Local 743 – Leading the way toward solar energy in Pennsylvania

  • Inside Local 743

With the growing concerns about the future and security of the world’s energy supply, renewable resources such as solar power are becoming increasingly important.  Local 743 and its signatory contractors have made the commitment to lead the way into this expanding industry.

The recent federal extension to the Solar Investment Tax Credit is expected to fuel an enormous growth in the industry.  Experts predict that hundreds of thousands of new jobs will be created and billions of dollars will be invested.  Our trained members are poised to meet these challenges.

Recently Mark Pinkasavage, Local 743’s Training Director, attended a Solar Photovoltaic Systems school in Tampa, Florida.  The train-the-trainer course prepared Mark to instruct our members to become PV system-knowledgeable professionals.  This training will ensure that our contractors’ customers will receive safe and quality installed PV systems.

Mark is holding courses in Solar PV systems, which is the technology of using properties of semiconductors to directly convert solar radiation into electricity.  The course covers fundamentals, design, and installation of Solar PV systems and involves actual hands-on work with PV systems and equipment.  The course also prepares the students to take the National American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) certification exam.  This certification will assure that Local 743 members will be the lead experts in the industry.

Stay tuned for more information, and please register on this site to be notified of upcoming solar  trainings.
